This full colour, hardback, executive size book of more than 410 pages, researches the history of Cambridge City Chess Club and chess throughout the City. It contains over 160 games played between 1835 (when the Town Club first met) and the present day,. The book has 7 main sections:-
(i) The history of Cambridge City (Town) Chess Club since 1835;
(ii) The 142 Varsity Chess matches played between 1873 and 2024, including a game from each match, puzzles from some matches, with particular focus on Cambridge City Club Members who have played one, or more, Varsity matches, e.g. Rafe Martyn, Ed Stembridge, Trevor Robbins
(iii) The Town v Gown matches which were first played in 2002;
(iv) The Top 10 Cambridge City Chess Club players of all time (my selections, which many might disagree with), followed by a list of other Club members and former Club members who might have claims to be included in the Top 10;
(v) The Class of 2024, where every current Club member is mentioned, even the very newest members;
(vi) Tables containing Office Holders, Club Champions, Club Honours; Fenland Cup winners.
